Structured
Athletics for Challenged Children began right here in Mooresville,
North Carolina in 1996.
It
grew out of a strong need to provide children with physical
and/or mental challenges with the opportunity to participate
in sports programs of their choice. The first program offered
Challenger League Baseball to a small group of young enthusiastic
athletes.
From
those humble beginnings, our local SACC of Iredell County has
grown into a fully organized 501 (c)(3) program that variously
offers programs in baseball, swimming, bowling, martial arts,
gymnastics, weight training, basketball and water exercise throughout
the year.
While
the values of SACC can certainly be seen in the smiles of our
athletes, measurable therapeutic benefits include increased
physical ability, enhanced socialization skills and the strengthening
of self-esteem.
A
small registration fee is charged per player per sport. Through
the generosity of sponsors, a scholarship fund has been established
for those families needing assistance with registration fees.
